in my holiday cards this year (they should have reached almost everyone by now), I have included a bag of (organic & fair trade) green tea bag. The day I bought the box of tea bags, I thought each bag would have a little tag hanging from it. But I was wrong, no tag. I couldn't send them as is ... the recipients would have wondered what the heck this bag would contain ! So I came to the tea brand's website, found the tea I had bought & printed on one sheet a whole set of mini tags. Ok, but now, how to hang them from the bags ? That's where the idea came : making a parchment paper bag, looking like a tea bag, and from which the tag would hang. As I started making it, I decided to take photos, so that I could share them here, just in case, they may be useful for one of you, one day.
so, well, consider this post as a little tutorial, I guess.
I used :
- parchment paper
- a stapler
- scissors
- twine or cotton yarn
- the printed tags of your tea
- of course, your tagless tea bags
first, cut lengths of parchment paper, that are approx; "1 finger" (I know, this one is an international measurement, right ? LOL) width wise, and that is more than double in size in length. (the photo will speak for itself, sorry !
now fold you paper in two in its length, and open it flat. Put your tea bag like on the photo (one short edge along the folding line) below
now simply fold it in half, like the first time you folded it. The tea bag is now hidden. Fold the two sides, like show on the photo
you should have lots of paper unused on top of the tea bag, right ? Ok, now, take the two corners (one after the other, of course), and fold them so that you'll get a pointy peak on top. (see photos)
now fold this a little so to break the pointy end (then put what you've just made aside, you'll go back to it shortly after)
now, you'll have to cut a length of the twine / cotton yarn (for each bag you'll make, so you can do this part all at once if you're making many of them), it will be the string that will keep the tag attached. Make a fat knot on each end.
now grab your stapler & staple one end of the string to the little paper tag you've printed (and cut beforehand, of course) It may be tricky, so you will maybe have to fix the knot secure behind the staple & press the staple a bit to tighten it close)
now take the other end of the string, and tuck the knotted end in the folded peak of the paper tea bag you'd just made. Fold it close & staple, taking care that you staple the knot at the same time.
you're done, ta da ! Turn the tea bag wrapping & enjoy !
I'll be blogging tonight, today's activity in our calendar can only be made after school, this evening, we are too short on time around lunchtime.
